Golf Club Competition Launched as Part of the 2008 AIB Ladies Irish Open

As sponsor of this years AIB Ladies Irish Open, which takes place from 11th - 13th July 2008 at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, we launched the AIB Ladies Irish Open - Club Challenge to all ILGU affiliated golf clubs in the country.

The AIB Ladies Irish Open - Club Challenge is a nationwide team event which was played on 4 of the country's finest golf courses, offering every lady club golfer in the country the opportunity to share the AIB Ladies Irish Open experience.

The twelve successful clubs that will be teeing it up at Portmarnock Links will feature in a field that includes World No. 3 Suzann Pettersen and Major Winner and current World No. 13 Morgan Pressel. Almost 200 clubs entered the Club Challenge with over 1,000 teams and over 3,000 ladies participating throughout the country. Qualifying from their home clubs, the top 120 teams nationally competed in four regional finals for the top twelve spots and automatic qualification for AIB Irish Ladies Pro-Am.

The teams consisted of three ladies from the one club, with each lady representing one of the three handicap classes.  The format for the four Regional Finals at Galway, Dun Laoghaire, Cork and Royal Belfast was the two best stableford scores to count on each hole.
