Naoinra na nDunaibh, Downings, Letterkenny has received a donation of €5,658 from AIB Letterkenny, which will go towards providing an essential outdoor play area for local children. The funding, from the AIB Better Ireland Programme, will advance their pre-school education by helping to develop thinking, language, creative and social skills.
Naionra na nDunaibh is a pre-school facility situated in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre in Downings, Co. Donegal. They provide a quality starter education for children in the local area and strive to improve their services with a new outdoor play area. By offering a safe environment for children to play, the pre-school aims to support educational development, stimulate learning potential, increase confidence, self-esteem and social skills, encourage integration between children and all in a fun, playful setting.
Speaking on behalf of Naionra na nDunaibh, Project Co-ordinator, Marrietta Herraghty, commented; "This funding will help enormously to address the need for a structured play area for our pre-school children, providing a catalyst for change. The new outdoor area will allow children to enjoy physical activities, learn about the natural environment and gain enjoyment & pleasure from outdoor pursuits."
Mary Foley, AIB Better Ireland Co-ordinator, AIB Letterkenny, said; "Since 2001, the AIB Better Ireland Programme has donated over €365,000 to 44 children's projects in Donegal. We at AIB Letterkenny are delighted that Naionra na nDunaibh is receiving this funding as it will allow them to develop the service and provide new outdoor activities for children to enjoy."
