Switching to AIB is free - no set up charges for direct debits, standing orders etc. Switch your account to AIB today and chose from our current account product range:

AIB current accounts offer our customers the convenience of AIB Phone & Internet banking, eStatements and an AIB Debit Card, as well as the following benefits.


Benefits of banking with AIB:

A way to bank free of maintenance and transaction fees
  • To qualify for a way to bank free maintenance and transaction fees on your personal current account all you need to do each fee quarter is to make a purchase with your AIB Debit Card AND use AIB Phone & Internet Banking to make a debit transaction like paying a bill. Other charges still apply. Please see our booklet 'A Guide to Fees and Charges for Personal Accounts.'  This offer is available until further notice. Easy account access
  • Access your account day and night, 365 days a year as a registered user of AIB Phone & Internet Banking. Check your balance, pay bills, transfer money and just a few of the services that put you in control. Note: An AIB Code Card may be required to use some of these services.

As an AIB customer you can lodge or withdraw cash or pay your AIB Credit Card bill with cash at 1,000 post offices all over the country.

We have a series of steps designed to make the transition go as smoothly for you as possible. We've outlined these steps in an easy - to- follow format, so you get a clear picture of exactly what's involved: what your 'Old Bank', your New Bank and you have to do. Simply click on either Option A or Option B below:

Customers have two options available through the Switching Code

Option A:

Switch your personal account(s) to AIB and close your account(s) with your 'Old Bank'.


Or

Option B:

Open an account with AIB and switch all your direct debits and standing orders to your new account while your old account(s) remain open with your 'Old Bank'.

Switching is Easy:

  • One of our Customer Service Officials will be happy to take you through the next steps for Switching Your Account.
  • Make sure that you call into your local AIB branch with both:

- A valid form of identification

- Valid proof of your residential address (Required by the Criminal Justice Act 1994)

Important / Regulatory Wording

AIB Debit Cards are liable to annual Government Stamp Duty. Currently EUR2.50 per card applies where the card is used for either an ATM/in branch transaction or a Point of Sale transaction, and EUR5.00 per card applies where the card is used for both. Government Stamp Duty of EUR 0.50 applies to each cheque.
