How to open an account

If you are already an AIB customer simply call into any AIB branch to convert your existing account to an AIB Student Plus Account and enjoy all the benefits.

If you do not already hold an account with AIB just call into any AIB branch and fill out an account opening form. Alternatively fill out our Student Plus Account Application form available through our 'Apply Online' button and drop it into your local AIB branch.

In order to comply with the requirements of the Criminal Justice Act 1994, you will need to provide acceptable photographic identification and proof of your current permanent address.

Examples of acceptable documentation are listed below.

Photographic ID

• Current valid passport
• National Identity Card
• National Age Card
• Current valid Driving licence (provisional acceptable)

and

Proof of address

• Current Utility Bill (e.g mobile phone bill)
• Current Bank/Financial Institution statement
• Notice of Determination of Tax Credits for the current tax year
• Current household/motor/health Insurance documents (policy schedule or renewal notice).
  

There are alternative arrangements in place for the establishment of identity and current permanent address for people who do not possess the documentation outlined above. Please talk to one of our staff at your local AIB branch for details.
